Starlight Quartet is a game from Hong Kong, designed by Hims Chu and published by Capstone (Hong Kong). It is an abstract game for 2 to 4 players.
You start with nine empty tiles arranged in a 3x3 grid. Every player has his own token colour. On your turn, you must place one of your tokens on a tile, then move that tile somewhere else. To win, you need to arrange four of your tokens in a straight line (see above). When moving a tile, all tiles must remain within an area of 4x4 tiles. All tiles must remain connected. You can't rotate tiles. They remain in the same orientation.
The rules are simple, but this is a thinky perfect information game. It's a
short game. You can teach it in less than a minute and new players can start
playing immediately. This is a game of not just trying to make your own
four-in-a-row. You have to watch your opponents closely and think about the
board position you are leaving them. You don't want to create opportunities
for them.
