Every year I draw a series of birthday cards, usually ten different designs, for the following year, and then whenever a friend or relative's birthday approaches, I send him/her a simple card of my own design. I enjoy doing this, because it makes people happy. I have been doing this for about 10 years. For 2008, the theme I selected was boardgames and Lego. So here are 10 "Legolised" boardgame box covers. If you are reading this blog you probably know all of them, but if there are some that you don't know, or if you want to see how these drawings compare to the original, follow the link at the bottom.

Hiew, those are incredibly well done! I can't imagine how much work you put into them. Do you do artwork professionally? I always read and enjoy your blog, and just wanted to say "hello" and Merry Christmas.
Very best,
Eric
Thanks Eric. Nope, my work is not art related at all. I just enjoy drawing / doodling since young. I'm nowhere near professional level.
Merry Christmas to you too!
Like the A&A cover especially. Pretty funny how everyone adopts the Lego smile in place of all the sinister posturing, lol.
That's also my favourite, but hell, it was the most work. :-D
Wow, this is seriously great work! So you're an engineer, a writer AND an artist?
Not an engineer. I studied computer science, and currently work as an IT project manager.
One thing that quite surprised me about these drawings is when I submitted them to Boardgamegeek, the Power Grid one earned a ton of thumbs. Till now I don't understand why. I liked the Axis & Allies one much more.
