This article from Bruna Faidutti really struck a chord with me - Reviews. I too dislike giving games a number rating, and I think the most valuable part of a game review is what the writer thinks of the game - why he likes it or why he doesn't. Who would like the game and why? That's the reason my standard format for blogging about games has a Thoughts section. It is for the convenience of those who wish to literally "jump to conclusions". That's what I like to do.
Again, you remind me that I always jump straight to the "Thoughts" section in your reviews. It is just so much more exciting to read that.
ReplyDeleteHa ha... one thing I sometimes struggle with is I don't have much thoughts about some games. "Meh" can be hard to elaborate on. :-P
ReplyDeleteyah... gotta use your creativity. alternate between JASE (just another souless euro), trading in the mediterranean, meh, not too sure about longevity, nothing special, etc...
