I must warn you that <B>Through the Ages</B> really is a gamer game, and it is rather daunting at first. Be prepared to spend 3 to 3.5hrs for your first game, even if it is 2 player. <BR/><BR/>If you decide to go ahead, I'd say don't bother with the short game and just jump straight into the Advanced Game.
